1471年5月4日的图克斯伯里战役被证明是玫瑰战争中最具决定性的交锋之一。

继上个月在巴尼特战役中失败后,由萨默塞特公爵指挥的6000名兰开斯特军队正试图渡过塞文河进入威尔士,与贾斯珀-都铎会合。

得知兰开斯特人的演习,国王爱德华四世带着5000名约克人出发,拦截并对抗他的敌人。

兰开斯特人于5月3日抵达图克斯伯里;然而,萨默塞特并没有冒险尝试渡河,而是选择与追击的约克人交战。 因此,第二天早上,兰开斯特人在该镇以南一英里处占据了防御阵地。

由于地形的原因,约克党人发现很难按任何顺序向兰开斯特人的阵地推进,因此用箭和枪弹袭击了守军。

虽然萨默塞特率军反击,但爱德华的人成功地守住了他们,沿着树篱和河岸慢慢打退了兰开斯特人。 当兰开斯特人的队伍崩溃时,结局就在眼前,大部分人在逃往河边的战场上被砍倒,这个地区今天仍然被称为血腥草地。
